1. Teaching Methods of the Teacher that You Observed

Lecture method was used to efficiently transmit information about the effects of the Japanese Occupation in the different aspects of the lives of Indonesians

Performance Task was also utilized by my cooperating teacher in the form of an assignment wherein students are to exhibit a synthesis of historical facts and valuing by an activity which compares a significant place in the history of the Indonesian independence movement then and as it is today, and why is it important until now.

No lesson recap nor motivation are used during the learning process. Lesson goes direct to the new lesson at hand.

2. Their Learning Materials and Innovation

The teachers and the students use the textbooks that abound in the classroom, and in the library.

The presence of projectors and speakers makes the creation and projection of instructional media easier.

Internet is a crucial part of the learning of students for academic communication, and for searching for information.

4. Authentic Assessment Used by the Teachers

Authentic assessment is employed, in so far as the objective was the transmission of significant information about the Japanese occupation in Indonesia, in the form of a hybrid long test. The first part is identification of the information, and the second part is an essay. Another authentic assessment was conducted to allow the students to exhibit a synthesis of historical facts and valuing by an activity which compares a significant place in the history of the Indonesian independence movement then and as it is today, and why is it important until now.

5. Others

There is a premium on Bahasa as it pervades almost all of the learning aspects of the students, from the references to the medium of instruction.

It can be said that it has been at the expense of English proficiency, though it does not by any means meant that no student is articulate in the language. In my gauging, around one-third of the students are good in English. Students are actually smart. It is just that it seems I am missing something due to a degree of language barrier.
